The Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) provides students with the deep modeling and analytical skills to find insights in data to inform better decision making.

The MSBA program builds a foundation in the quantitative methods underlying data analytics and the practical ways data is managed in an organization. It then expands on that foundation to go deeper into machine learning to enable the student to conduct predictive and prescriptive analysis. A student’s skill set is rounded out and strengthened with classes in effective communication of analysis and results as well as the ethical implications and use of data. The program is rigorous and focused, designed to provide a strong understanding and skill set in data science and analytics.

The progrm is comprised of ten courses, 34 credits, over eight consecutive eight-week sessions and is offered in a hybrid format. The majority of coursework is online with face-to-face meetings (ususally Friday afternoon and Saturday) once every eight weeks.

The MSBA program is a 16-month program; however, 7 years is the allowed maximum.

- Please describe your reasons for pursuing the MS in Business Analytics at Hamline. What are your career aspirations?
- Please describe what makes the Hamline program appealing to you. What skills do you seek to strengthen; what challenges do you seek to overcome?
- Please describe your experience with programming languages and analytical software, including but not limited to Excel, Python, R, SAS, SPSS, SQL, and Tableau.
- Please describe your experience with mathematics or statistics, either academic or professional.
A résumé.
Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate work. If your transcripts are in a language other than English, you must submit both the original and an official or certified course by course English translation. Hamline School of Business reserves the right to require applicants to have their academic records evaluated by an academic credential evaluator.
Two recommendation forms detailing your qualifications to pursue advanced study written by people unrelated to you who are familiar with your academic and/or professional history. These forms will be sent to recommenders you identify as part of your online application.
