The timeline and pace of the program is self-directed and new courses are added frequently to afford variety and depth. Completion of this certificate provides a valuable professional credential for teachers interested in the teaching of reading and writing.

Certificate Requirements (12 credits)

  • 5 credits in Reading
  • 4 credits in Writing
  • 3 elective credits

Because course offerings are always changing to keep up with what is new and exciting in the field, the certificate is designed as a ‘build your own’ program. Most LANG 6000- and 7000-level courses will fulfill requirements. Please contact gcs@hamline.edu with questions about course offerings.
