EDUC 7204 - Special Populations in College Counseling


Examine current issues pertaining to special populations within college admission counseling. Focus on college counseling special groups including underrepresented students (students of color, first generation, low socioeconomic status), undocumented students, students with disabilities, homeschool students, and adult learners. Learn about College Access Programs, such as AVID, Upward Bound, Admission Possible, and TRIO.

Target audience: Junior high, middle and high school counselors; career center specialists and teachers of career classes; individuals interested in developing an independent college-counseling practice.

NOTE: This course is required for completion of the College Admissions Counseling Certificate.
