Leadership Minor

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: All Academic Programs

The minor in leadership develops leaders who can address the complex and adaptive needs of global systems and intercultural communities. This program works across departments and sectors to guide students in applying leadership skills to real-world contexts. Students will use the knowledge from their fields or lived experiences to understand how to most effectively make the changes they want to see in the world. By pairing leadership development with their studies, students will be able to both articulate their unique contribution to the whole and be able to enact change in their communities and disciplines in equitable ways.

As a result of completing this leadership minor, students will:

  • Have concrete tools for navigating complex leadership challenges
  • Evaluate their own strengths, identities, and growth areas in order to increase awareness of self and its role in effective leadership
  • Gain experience in leadership development of others in order to build effective teams, groups, and organizations in the future
  • Have a understanding of the field of leadership, its foundational theories, and how to engage in the field of leadership on a national and global scale beyond graduation
  • Demonstrate an ability to identify, define, and solve problems in inclusive and sustainable ways
  • Be able to articulate specific leadership competencies to future employers and organizations
