Music Major (BA)

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: All Academic Programs

The Music Major at Hamline University provides students with a diverse skill set for forward-looking musical careers. The major is brimming with performance opportunities, explorations of musical cultures, history and analysis, and skill-building experiences in contemporary digital music production. Twelve elective credits give students the freedom to develop their particular interests and advance toward vocational goals–see our suggested “pathways.”  The Senior Project engages students in intensive creative work of their own choosing, for example, producing an EP of original songs, scoring film clips, presenting a lecture-recital, composing an underscore for a play or podcast, or creating a business plan for a teaching studio. High-impact internships and professional mentors in the Twin Cities’ robust music scene further enrich the Music Major experience.
