Major Requirements
Hamline’s major in urban studies is designed for students who wish to prepare for careers in public administration or management, government service at various levels, or city, urban, and regional planning.
Ten courses must be completed for the major in urban studies. Seven are required, with the remaining electives to be chosen from the recommended courses listed below or from substitutes approved by the program director. Students who intend to pursue graduate studies are encouraged to take courses in statistics and econometrics. Urban studies majors are encouraged to include an urban internship and an independent study in their program.

One of the following courses in social science methodology or a substitute approved by the director: One of the following courses
One of the following courses in ethnic and cultural diversity, or a substitute approved by the director: Three electives are to be chosen
Three electives are to be chosen from the following or from courses approved by the director:
