LAW 9572 - Public Health Law and Ethics This course addresses governmental powers, duties, and limits as regards the health of the American population. It emphasizes the relationship between individual interests and population‑level or governmental interests and focuses on the legal, policy, and ethical questions that arise when the state intervenes to protect the population’s health. The course will include topics such as privacy and surveillance, vaccination, quarantine and isolation, screening and compulsory treatment, health communication, public health research, and the control of chronic diseases.
