LAW 9111 - Civil Procedure Focuses on the civil judicial process and dispute resolution. This course includes a study of the constitutional and legislative grants of authority to the state and federal judicial systems, including questions of personal and subject matter jurisdiction, notice required by due process of law, venue, and choice of law. The course provides an introduction to basic principles of pleading and motion practice, discovery, and joinder, and addresses the preclusive effects of judgments, as well as alternatives to litigation.
The content of this course is tested on the bar exam in a majority of states.
