Minor Requirements

The linguistics minor requires a minimum of five courses or 19 credits as follows:

ANTH 3050 - Topics in Linguistic Anthropology
ENG 3190 - Introduction to Linguistics
MODL 1010 - The Language Phenomenon
MODL 1020 - Language and Society

Elective course(s)

A minimum of three elective credits are required from the following list. (Please note: registration for graduate-level ESL courses requires special permission; use the Cross-School/Cross-Program registration form found at www.hamline.edu/registrar/forms.)

ESL 7610 - History of English
ESL 8120 - Pedagogical Grammar and Discourse
ESL 8130 - Exploring Learner Language and Second Language Acquisition
ESL 8160 - Phonetics and Phonology
ESL 8150 - Advanced Linguistic Analysis
An ACTC linguistics course at the intermediate level or above
