Major Requirements
The social studies major totals 13-15 courses as follows: Both of the following Management & Economics courses:
One Geography course:
One Geography course offered through the ACTC exchange from the following: Human Geography (GEOG 111 at Macalester, GEOG 111 at St. Thomas, GEOG 2000 at St. Catherine); or World Geography (GEOG 113 at St. Thomas). If possible, an additional geography course is also highly recommended for future teachers. Three History courses to include:
- HIST 1310: Introduction to U.S. History: 1865-Present
- One non-Western history course
- One course at the level of HIST 3011 or above
A disciplinary concentration of six courses from one of the departments listed above
At least one of the six courses must be at the 5000 level and at least one must be at the 3000 level. This concentration must also include the methodology course in the discipline from among the options below. (Note: Students seeking a concentration in Geography should confer with the Social Studies program director.) |
