EDUC 7201 - Fundamentals of Counseling the College Bound Student This introductory course is designed to provide students with an overview of the College Admission Counseling program. Topics covered include the need for postsecondary-education in today’s world, types of post-secondary education options and training, K-12 college awareness, counseling special populations, identification of key players in college counseling and their roles and responsibilities, ethics and best practices, creating a college going culture, and organizing a college and career counseling office/center. Target audience: Junior high, middle, and high school counselors; career-center specialists; teachers of career classes; individuals interested in developing an independent college counseling practice.
