Music Production Major (BA)

The Major in Music Production at Hamline University prepares students for the exciting diversity of opportunities in today’s music industry. You will develop the skills to create, produce, and promote your own creative work, as well as collaborate with others and serve the greater arts community. Whether you join us as a digital musician or acoustic musician, you will get hands-on experience with audio technology, engage in collaborative work, benefit from professional mentorships, grasp the nitty-gritty of the business and develop your individual musicianship. Interact with the rich and diverse arts community in the Twin Cities through our insider’s access to the most fulfilling internships. Find your “people” in collaborative work and performing groups – from our combos and studio ensembles to choir, band and orchestra. Explore cross-arts opportunities in theatre and dance productions, and digital and studio arts projects. The multiplicity of skills in the major prepares you to be a flexible and informed artist and flourish in music production and sound arts career paths.

Students choose one of the following LEAP experience options. - An on-campus, cross-disciplinary, collaborative project as can be arranged and under the mentorship of music faculty. This project must contribute to student projects in other majors such as: Marketing; Digital + Studio Arts; Performance, Production, and Community; English and Communication Studies; Digital Storytelling.
