Financial Economics is a branch of economics that analyzes the use of economic resources in markets in which decisions are made under uncertainty. This branch of economics employs economic theory to evaluate how time, risk, opportunity costs and information can create incentives for a particular decision. Students who enjoy abstract economic analysis and applied financial analysis will find the concentration interesting and challenging. Study of finance and accounting are essential for students planning to graduate in this field. Certain careers in the field of financial economics (investment banking, corporate financial management, and financial regulations) may require a graduate degree.
