Social Justice Minor

Minor Requirements


Objective: To permit students majoring in other fields the opportunity to develop an integrated basis for analysis of social justice issues.

The minor in social justice consists of a minimum of six courses, at least three of which must be 3000 level or higher-level courses. Minors are required to take:

The social justice foundations course:

Five additional breadth courses


Students must select one course from each of the following five areas. An internship may be substituted for one breadth area.

These concerns shape the quest for social justice from philosophy, religion, or selected literature courses. Other relevant courses may be taken with permission from the program director.

5. One practical skills course:


One course that provides students with practical skills to permit them to be effective in advancing social justice concerns, e.g., communication theory, legal research, advocacy, writing courses, from the following:
