SJSC 3910 - Theorizing Social Life Goals: Students will learn to wield social theory as a means to organize, understand and predict social phenomena. Students will also learn that understanding social reality is controversial and complicated.
Content: The course is a targeted survey of early, modern, and contemporary sociological theory with an emphasis on connecting theory to practice. Genealogical connections between and among theoretical constructs and ”schools” are a point of emphasis, and the social contexts within which theoretical frames develop is a primary focus.
Prerequisites: SJSC 1100 and SJSC 1110 with grades of C- or better or instructor permission, and junior or senior standing
