CDS 1030 - Data Visualization with R


Goals: To introduce programming in R and basic design principles for data analysis and visualization. By the end of this course, students will be able to write R code to import and prepare data for analysis and produce appropriate visualizations for a variety of types of data, including multivariate, temporal, text, and spatial data. Students will also learn to interpret data visualizations, use them in discussing the issues of the current world, and discuss their limitations.

Content: Students will learn the fundamentals of programming in the R programming language, including loop structures, if-else statements, Boolean expressions, importing data, dataframes, plotting data. Students will learn the fundamentals of data visualization, including figure design, figure making, and figure review.
