SPED 7083 - Biomedical Aspects of Physical and Developmental Disabilities


Become familiar with the medical aspects and terminology used when working with students with physical and health disabilities.

Knowledge and skills covered include genetics and heredity, pediatric pharmacology, and secondary health care issues accompanying various syndromes, birth defects and medical diagnoses. Collaboration among families, medical providers, and school personnel will be emphasized. NOTE: Required course for Certificates in Other Health Disabilities and Traumatic Brain Injury. Target audience: educators, special educators birth-21, school nurses, psychologists, therapists, and related service personnel.
