LAW 9899 - Skills Lab

Skills lab courses are small‑enrollment sections associated with designated upper‑level bar classes and are designed to help students translate the doctrinal knowledge from those classes into practice. Led by a professor with relevant practice expertise who works in close coordination with the professor teaching the bar course, some labs will focus on advocacy and others will focus on transactional planning. Typically, labs will meet six times over the course of the semester in two‑hour blocks and will offer students the opportunity to wield the doctrinal expertise that they are gaining in a variety of simulated lawyering tasks, such as interviewing clients, preparing discovery requests, drafting documents, arguing motions, analyzing facts or advising clients about the feasibility of a proposed course of action.

Students must be co‑enrolled in the lab and the course with which it is associated.
